The post holder will provide administrative support to aid the referral of patients for PBT. The post holder will manage the clinical pathway of patient referrals from receipt through to acceptance for treatment. They will provide advice regarding referral processes and be the point of contact for all enquiries.

The post holder will provide support to the National Clinical Lead for Proton Beam Therapy and associated NHS England Commissioning colleagues, covering the administrative processes for PBT clinical referrals, including (but not limited to) national clinical reference panel responses and commissioning approvals, ensuring processes support efficient patient pathways.

Collate relevant documentation, scans and approvals required from NHS referring centres to support each patient referral, providing specialist administrative expertise for NHS referring centres, NHS England and PBT provider centres commissioned by NHS England.

Work closely with the National Clinical Leads to ensure timeliness of clinical reference panel and commissioning approvals to meet programme performance targets.

Liaise with MDT/scheduling/Keyworker teams to ensure NHS patients are allocated to commissioned treatment centres appropriately according to the published NHS Standard Operating Procedure and NHS England PBT Clinical Policies.

Use expertise and experience to advise on policy and process as the sole national point of contact for patient and healthcare provider enquiries, either by phone or email.

Provide a specialist technical image transfer service using the PBT CT/MRI/PET national imaging exchange portal (IEP) through to treatment centres (within a secure medico-legal I.T and governance framework).

Develop systems and processes to inform referrers and consultant colleagues of patient’s referral status, ensuring administration processes support efficient patient pathways.
