Job Description

Embedded Software Architect – Embedded Linux / AOSP – Cambridge – HybridSalary: Β£80k – Β£100k + bonus + benefits

A well-established innovator in critical communications tech is looking for an Embedded Software Architect to lead the design and delivery of complex software platforms powering advanced radio systems and accessories.

You’ll architect embedded systems that span Linux, AOSP, and real-time environments, shaping the core foundations for mobile devices used across security, emergency services, and industrial sectors. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of architecture, leadership, and hands-on problem-solving – with a passion for embedded technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Define software architecture across embedded platforms (Linux, AOSP, bare-metal)

  • Collaborate with technical leads, developers, and product teams to align architecture with requirements and business goals

  • Create scalable, secure, and high-performance frameworks to support real-time embedded systems

  • Lead technical workshops, whiteboard designs, and prototype new solutions to de-risk delivery

  • Mentor development teams and provide technical guidance across multiple active projects

  • Drive best practices in embedded software development, including CI/CD, testing, and code quality

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an Embedded Software Architect or Senior Embedded Engineer ready to step up

  • Deep understanding of embedded Linux (kernel, driver development, performance tuning) and/or Android AOSP

  • Proficient in C++, Java, or similar languages used in real-time embedded development

  • Strong grasp of system architecture, software frameworks, and integration challenges

  • Strong communication and leadership skills, comfortable working across both technical and non-technical teams

  • Agile development experience preferred

Bonus points for:

  • Experience delivering embedded solutions for mission-critical or regulated industries.

  • Familiarity with hardware abstraction, protocol stacks, or real-time performance constraints

This is a rare opportunity to influence the technical strategy behind real-world communication systems, working alongside a high-calibre engineering team. If you’re ready to architect software that truly matters – apply now.
