At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose – to improve people's lives.

About the Avon Pension Fund

The Avon Pension Fund is a forward-thinking organisation that is continuing to introduce more digital services to improve member and scheme employer engagement. We are committed to providing a pension administration service of the highest standard while developing our staff so that they can fulfil their potential. We administer the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) for over 125,000 members across 464 employers in the local area. Employers include local unitary councils, universities, academies, town and parish councils, housing associations and charities. The fund is worth over Β£5 billion and is one of the largest local authority pension funds in the UK.

About the Role

The Avon Pension Fund is looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join its newly created Digital Services team, as Pensions Officers. Reporting to the Digital Services Team Leader, this position is responsible for the processing of leaver data received from scheme employers, assisting with the use of bulk and automated processing, as well as ensuring member data is accurate and up to date to enable members to fully utilise My Pension Online facilities and The Pensions Dashboard.

The successful candidates will work within the Digital Services Team by liaising with scheme employers and members of the scheme to ensure all data is correct and benefits are calculated in line with Local Government Pension Scheme Regulations. Effective customer service must be delivered to members and employers in line with agreed Service Level Agreements.

The postholders will be required to identify and act upon discrepancies within member data and provide feedback on opportunities for improving working practices, procedures, and processes within the team or work area, supporting the continuous improvement of services.

These are important roles within a busy pensions team and would suit someone with Local Government Pensions experience who has a positive and committed attitude and is looking to advance their career. Good organisational, communication, and inter-personal skills, along with attention to detail, are essential for this role, together with a good working knowledge of the LGPS or defined benefit pension scheme.
