Job Description
Newbattle High school is a comprehensive, non-denominational high school with a current roll of 1300 pupils. We have eight associated primary schools β Easthouses, Lawfield, Mayfield, Gorebridge, Stobhill, Gore Glen, Newtongrange and Moorfoot, with whom we have excellent working relationships and well-established transition links. Knowledge & Essential Requirements
- Evidence of competency in literacy and numeracy skills such as a minimum of three standard grades level 3 passes or above to include Mathematics and English or equivalent. SVQ 2 or equivalent is an acceptable alternative.
- Some practical experience or demonstration of competency in the use of word processing and standard PC software packages.
- Demonstrable competency in keyboard and clerical skills; SVQ 2 or equivalent is an acceptable alternative.
- Experience in a similar office environment, with a working knowledge of modern office equipment would be desirable.

- Position Title: Office Support Assistant

- Contract Status: Permanent
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weeks per Year: 39
- Salary: Minimum Β£23,213.27 per annum (based on 36 hours over 39 weeks per year). Successive appointments will be on the salary scale per Midlothian Council policy.
Responsibilities
- This post is considered Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Applicants barred from working with children must not apply.
- Successful candidates must hold PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Children. Applicants will need to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment. The cost of this check will be borne by the applicant.
- Applicants will be required to disclose and share a PVG Certificate with Midlothian Council within 14 days of receiving notification from Disclosure Scotland.
- If the PVG certificate is not accessed within 14 days, a further application and additional cost may be incurred.
