Freighter & Marine Engineer – London Navis Consulting has an opening for a Freighter and Marine Engineer to join a large submarine telecommunications company based in London. Responsibilities: Manage freighter mobilization and transfer operations worldwide for telecommunications cables and submerged equipment. Design cable storage and handling equipment. Oversee fabrication, commissioning, and maintenance of cable handling systems. Supervise teams, ensure QHSE standards, and control costs for freighter and depot operations. Collaborate closely with Project Managers and vessel crews. Desired Education, Training, and Qualifications: Knowledge of Marine Engineering and general onboard ship systems, including machinery and hydraulics. Basic understanding of vessel stability calculations, steel work, and CAD. Overview of materials used in marine engineering. Basic electrical engineering principles, including DC and AC circuit theory, and electrical power systems. Fundamentals of engineering mathematics, including differential equations. Knowledge of lifting, slings, offshore safety, and shipping qualifications. Experience with vessel itinerary planning, ISPS code, port operations, and dealing with regulatory authorities. Proficiency in computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic MCA certification. Desired Personal Attributes: Proactive, motivated, with a positive, hands-on attitude. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, supporting remote work and travel. Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
