Due to continuing expansion, our client, a national Engineering company, is seeking a talented and innovative Design Engineer to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing our current products, ensuring that all designs meet the necessary specifications and standards. This role requires a strong understanding of engineering principles and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, duties include:
- Develop detailed schematics and design documentation for new products and systems.
- Conduct root cause analysis to identify issues in existing designs and implement effective solutions.
- Utilise Simulink for system modelling and simulation to validate design concepts.
- Create 2D and 3D models using CAD software, particularly SolidWorks, to support product development.
- Employ MATLAB for data analysis and algorithm development related to design projects.
- Design systems with a focus on GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles to ensure manufacturability.
- Use LabView for testing and validation of prototypes, ensuring they meet performance criteria.
- Integrate logic controllers into designs, ensuring compatibility with existing systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs align with project requirements and timelines.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and advancements in design engineering.
As a successful candidate, prior experience & skills needed:
- Proficiency in CAD software, particularly SolidWorks, for creating detailed designs.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in root cause analysis methodologies.
- Familiarity with Simulink for modelling complex systems is highly desirable.
- Experience with MATLAB for data processing and algorithm development is advantageous.
- Knowledge of system design principles, including GD&T practices, is essential.
- Proficient in LabView for testing applications related to engineering projects.
- Understanding of logic controllers and their integration into design solutions is beneficial.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities combined with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also demonstrating initiative in individual tasks.
