Summary: The Global Alternatives Group (“Global Alts”), a division of J.P. Morgan Asset Management, manages approximately $168 billion in assets. It comprises Real Estate, Infrastructure, Transportation (“GTG”), Private Equity, Private Credit, Liquid Alternatives, and Hedge Fund Strategies, with over 700 professionals globally and over 40 years of experience. A vacancy exists for a Vice President in the Acquisitions Team of the Global Transportation Group within Global Alts, based in London. This role involves developing and executing investment strategies for corporate mergers and acquisitions (“M&A”). The ideal candidate has a proven track record in corporate M&A, understands the full M&A process, and is familiar with legal documents such as shareholder agreements, definitive agreements, letters of intent, and joint venture agreements. The role also involves mentoring junior team members on strategies to add value through due diligence, merger modeling, negotiations, and structuring. Candidates with over seven (7) years of experience in top-tier investment banking, especially in M&A or Transportation industry coverage, are preferred. A legal background or degree is advantageous.
Exceptional communication, analytical, financial, organizational, and time management skills are essential. The candidate should be capable of guiding and developing junior team members and have an interest or experience in transportation sectors like maritime, energy logistics, aviation, rail, leasing, or vehicle fleets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pipeline Development: Collaborate with senior management to identify potential acquisition targets aligned with the fund’s investment mandate.
- Valuation and Pricing: Build and analyze valuation models to assess potential acquisitions, considering synergies and value enhancement opportunities.
- M&A Process Management: Develop approaches for deal execution, including auction or negotiated sales, with internal teams and external advisors.
- Due Diligence: Oversee comprehensive reviews of target companies’ financials, contracts, legal, regulatory, and operational aspects.
- Documentation: Prepare and review key M&A documents such as LOIs, definitive agreements, and closing conditions.
- Negotiation: Lead negotiations on bids, deal structure, and contractual terms to benefit the fund.
- Communication: Keep senior management and investment committees informed, and present to investors as needed.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience in a top-tier investment bank in M&A or Transportation coverage.
- Legal background or degree preferred.
- Proven M&A deal execution experience.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
- Ability to work across multiple time zones in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
- Masters or law degree from a recognized institution.
- Experience in transportation sectors.
- Series 7 and 63 licenses.
- Experience in project finance, private equity, or with financial sponsors.
- Strong analytical and modeling skills, familiarity with contractual and financial arrangements.
- Excellent stakeholder management, including with investors, banks, lawyers, and other partners.
- Fluency in additional languages (e.g., French, Spanish, German, Mandarin) is a plus.
