Job Title: Support Worker

Responsible to: Directly accountable to and taking direction from the employer (Mum)

Hours: 4 hours per week

Hourly Rate of Pay: £12.80

Based at: Employer’s own home in Felixstowe, Suffolk and out in the local community

Job Purpose

The purpose of the job is to support and be a friendly companion to a young boy who is non-verbal and has learning difficulties. The aim is to build a trusting, professional relationship with the child and to support him with all his needs. The child is a very sweet boy who is loving, funny, and fairly easy-going. He enjoys affection and lots of energetic activities. He loves people, animals, and has no sensory issues. We are looking for someone positive, laid-back, and confident.

Main Duties:

To support with:

Personal care e.g. washing, toileting.
Constant supervision is required at all times.
Support with all safety aspects.
Being a social friendly companion to the child.
Assisting with medication.
Supporting with sensory play.
Keeping him entertained in the home.
Building a supportive relationship and participating in activities which the child enjoys such as soft play, going to the zoo/park, etc.
Performing such other duties as may reasonably be required.

Personal Specification

Flexible in the hours and times that you can work.
Experience with caring for children is essential.
Good sense of humour and enjoy a friendly joke.
Thorough understanding of personal safety.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge and understanding of risks.
Patient and supportive.

Special Conditions

This post is subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check at the employer\’s request prior to commencing employment. This is confidential and at no cost to yourself. The post carries a 6-month probationary period.
