About the Opportunity
Our client is looking to grow their business in the EMEA region and is now hiring an HSE Advisor for their Glasgow, UK office.
Role Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and maintenance of external certifications (including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001).
- Deliver training and conduct audits across UK project sites and offices.
- Perform safety and health inspections for offices and sites across the UK.
- Report to the ESHS (Environment, Safety, Health and Security) Lead EMEA, taking responsibility for HSE compliance activities for assigned project sites and offices in the UK and potentially other EMEA locations.
- Collaborate with the EMEA Quality Lead and other site-based HSE Advisors.
- This role is based in Glasgow city centre, with flexibility to travel to London and project sites domestically and internationally.
- Adopt a hybrid work schedule of 3 days in the office/on-site and 2 days remote.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement HSE programs to meet company and UK safety and health standards.
- Develop and deliver employee safety and health training programs.
- Conduct site visits, safety inspections, and audits for legal compliance and program effectiveness.
- Maintain ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015 Management Systems.
- Serve as the primary contact for EHS audits and liaise with the ISO Lead.
- Review proposals and prequalifications, providing EHS input.
- Develop Emergency Action Plans for offices and projects as needed.
- Create project-specific safety and health plans and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience in the UK construction industry.
- Substantial HSE experience in field/site environments.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 setup, implementation, and maintenance.
- Willingness to obtain ISO HSE Lead Auditor certification if not already held.
- NEBOSH National Diploma (Level 6) or NVQ Level 6/7 H&S Qualification.
- Understanding of UK safety, health standards, practices, and laws.
- Chartered membership (CMIOSH) or working towards it.
Preferred Qualifications
- ISO HSE Lead Auditor certification from a recognized provider.
- Experience with legal compliance audits and external auditing bodies.
- Experience collaborating with engineers and design teams.
- Knowledge of environmental laws, compliance, and permitting processes.
- Familiarity with CDM Regulations.
- Understanding of H&S budgeting, cost control, security risks, and management procedures.
