Irwin and Colton are pleased to be engaged by an industry-leading FM organisation seeking a new Health and Safety professional to lead contractor management systems at a major site in Surrey. The role involves overseeing the Contractor Management office, ensuring safe working conditions, proper documentation and Permits to Work, and adherence to safe systems of work, while managing a team of two safety professionals. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing health and safety team committed to continuous improvement and to work in a professional, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities of the Health & Safety Lead include:

  • Engaging with key stakeholders to enhance health and safety culture with subcontractors
  • Collaborating with subcontractors and internal procurement teams to maintain high standards of supplier performance and site requirements, and developing health and safety management systems aligned with best practices
  • Analyzing risks in critical working environments and implementing changes to mitigate them
  • Ensuring contractors on-site comply with legislation and company policies

Requirements for the successful Health & Safety Lead:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) and relevant professional membership
  • Proven experience in the built environment, preferably from facilities management (Hard FM) or industrial M&E sectors
  • Experience influencing and engaging subcontractors to foster safety and compliance culture
  • Strong understanding of ISO systems (ISO 45001, 14001, and 9001)
  • Experience with confined spaces, working at height, and excavations is advantageous
