PEL CPA is seeking a Junior Bookkeeping Associate to join our team of accountants and bookkeepers. This role involves full-cycle bookkeeping for our business clients and is available as either a full-time or part-time position based at our Burnaby (Brentwood) or Surrey (Guildford) office. Our team members are involved in various tasks that offer significant opportunities for growth and hands-on experience. We foster an environment where learning and development are encouraged. With the technology we have in place, you will have the flexibility to work remotely, in addition to working from our office, creating a highly adaptable work setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle monthly bookkeeping duties for clients, including bank reconciliations, payroll, GST/HST returns, and accounts payable.
  • Directly communicate with clients regarding their financial records and coordinate with others involved in the bookkeeping process as needed.
  • Stay updated on industry technology and explore how software applications can enhance the bookkeeping process.
  • Proactively recommend improvements to client record-keeping practices.
  • Perform various administrative tasks as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some formal education in business, accounting, or finance, with an interest in pursuing a designation (e.g., CPA) alongside practical work experience.
  • Experience with accounting software (such as QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, Xero, or Sage) is a plus.
  • A commitment to high standards in client service.
  • Strong organizational skills, efficiency, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Excel and Outlook.
  • Typing speed of 50+ WPM.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00-$32.00 per hour
