Hardware Design Engineer (Mechanical/Electronic) – Device and Product Support Dundee, UK (hybrid) Salary: Β£ 32,800.00 – Β£41,000.00 (Depending on exp) POSITION SUMMARY & KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: We are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated and tenacious individual educated to degree level in Mechanical Engineering or Electronic Engineering or equivalent work experience to join the Device and Product Support team. The successful applicant will work as part of a highly motivated team striving to meet and report on all project schedule, cost and quality targets across a range of devices and products. Have the ability to work on several projects simultaneously. This role offers a great variety of technical design and problem solving with full exposure to many cross functional disciplines and a broad experience of the business. Key Responsibilities Problem-Solving: Utilize strategies, techniques and tools for problem investigation, identification and resolution. Device Development: Lead and participate in new device developments and unit tests, ensuring that they meet the required specifications and industry standards. Product Development/Integration: Responsible for integrating new devices into existing flagship products seamlessly, ensuring that all cross functional teamsβ requirements are satisfied. This may also include making improvements to existing products based on internal or external customer feedback (such as manufacturing plants or field escalations). Innovative Design Solutions: Drive innovation and new technologies into the design from external learning and previous experiences. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Test, Services and NPI to ensure a successful solution before releasing. Provide support to Manufacturing plants and the Field Engineers. There is also a requirement to work with parts and device manufacturers. Documentation: Prepare and present detailed documentation to support the development, test and integration of the new solution in production, or field units. This would be formally approved using the correct systems with all relevant information to allow for correct implementation. Regular progress reporting on schedule, quality & size of change. Basic Requirements Education: A Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electronic Engineering (Hons 2:1 or better preferred) or equivalent work experience. Experience: Minimum of 2 – 4 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering or Electronic Engineering. Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functions teams internally and externally. This role collaborates with multiple stakeholders to ensure clear expectations throughout project development and standards of excellence are achieved. Communication: Excellent verbal & written communication skills and ability to present to customers/ and or product management as well as communicating to team members. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. Creo or SolidWorks preferred), high-level understanding of part design, experience generating technical drawings with detail to dimensioning and tolerancing to meet mass production standards. Preferred Experience Experience in parts design including sheet metal and plastic mouldings. Experience in creating harness drawings and representing cabling in CAD. Exposure to electronic design would be highly beneficial. Digital and analogue methodologies. Schematic analysis and debugging. Experience in designing for EMC and Safety compliance. Knowledge of industry standards and regulations. Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
