Our client is a well-known, multi-disciplinary design consultancy who are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with a consultancy background to join their established infrastructure team to help address their ever-expanding workload. Ideally, we are looking for an all-rounder, comfortable with highway design and willing to learn some drainage design, encompassing projects both within the public highway and on-site.
We are looking for someone able to take instruction from our more senior members of the team and then complete the tasks either independently or working with our junior members of the team, helping to impart their knowledge and improve junior experience. We would expect the candidate to be familiar with relevant guidance and standards, be actively involved in proposals and ongoing project management, deliver projects to budget, and be confident in a client-facing role, noting that we work for both private developers, public bodies and contractors.
Requirements- At least 5 years experience working in a UK consultancy on both highway and drainage design schemes
- A proficiency using our industry-standard design packages AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- A practical knowledge of relevant highway design standards, guidelines and processes
- A proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite of software, including Excel
- Can multi-task and manage a portfolio of projects across various scales
- Can communicate effectively and professionally with the design team, clients, and contractors
- Good written skills
- Understand the multi-disciplinary nature of projects from the planning stage, through to completion
- Chartered or working towards being chartered is welcomed, but not essential
- Technical experience within the field of Civil Engineering design, covering several aspects of preliminary and detailed design of levels and external works
- Experience liaising with both internal and external bodies, including planning authorities, statutory undertakers, and national bodies such as National Highways
- Experience in design delivery, including multi-disciplinary designs
- Attending client meetings and liaising with clients and other stakeholders
- Section 278 / 38 Highway Designs
- Highway designs to DMRB and Local Authority guidelines
- Residential Estate Roads, Commercial / Industrial Access
- Ground Modelling / Earthworks Design to include geotechnical and environmental appraisal
- Pavement designs
Ideal candidates would also have some knowledge of Site3D and Infodrainage; and general knowledge of Flood Risk Assessments; Sustainable Urban Drainage Strategies; foul and storm water drainage; Detailed Drainage Designs; and/or highways drainage, however, this is not essential to the role.
