Locum Commercial Solicitor (Charity & Company Law) – Midlands Council – Up to £55 per hour (Umbrella) – Remote/Hybrid

Location: Predominantly remote, with occasional office attendance as required

Rate: Up to £55 per hour (Umbrella)

Duration: 3-6 months+ (potential for extension)

Working Pattern: Part-time or full-time considered

Venn Group’s specialist legal team is recruiting for a Locum Commercial Solicitor with expertise in charity and company law to join a well-regarded Midlands Local Authority. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the Council’s commercial projects, governance structures, and charitable partnerships, with the flexibility of remote working.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing expert legal advice on charity law, including governance, regulatory compliance, and structuring charitable entities.
  • Advising on company law matters, including setting up and managing local authority trading companies and joint ventures.
  • Drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, contracts, and funding arrangements.
  • Ensuring compliance with local government and public sector legal frameworks.
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including council officers, charities, and external legal advisors.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive with strong experience in charity and company law.
  • Local government experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload with minimal supervision.
