The Specie and Fine Art team manages an established and diverse portfolio within the Lloyd’s marketplace. We are seeking an underwriter with a strong understanding of Specie and Fine Art to contribute immediately to the growth and profitability of the team.

Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Underwrite Specie and Fine Art business in accordance with the Syndicate Business Plan and within the terms of the underwriting authority.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with brokers and clients to establish Canopius as a preferred market for Specie and Fine Art business.
  • Research and develop new business opportunities for the syndicate.
  • Ensure effective collaboration with other underwriting and support units within Canopius to maximize resource efficiency.
  • Control business writing effectively, taking corrective actions on poorly performing business to meet SBF targets, and ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards including PRA, FCA, and Lloyd’s.
  • Adhere to Canopius internal policies, procedures, and controls, ensuring the team understands and complies with them.
  • Accept business only through approved intermediaries and coverholders in accordance with internal procedures.
  • Maintain complete and accurate underwriting records.
  • Promote a client-centric underwriting culture that aligns with Canopius standards and FCA guidelines.
  • Assist in the development of junior underwriting staff.

Skills And Experience:

  • Experience in underwriting or broking within the Specie and Fine Art class of business.
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on data and risk analysis, positively impacting long-term business success.
  • Product development experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and computer skills.
  • Working knowledge of the Lloyd’s market.
  • Demonstrate integrity, openness, accountability, community involvement, diversity & inclusion, teamwork, and entrepreneurial spirit.
