As an Engineering Manager for the Orders team, you will lead a team responsible for our quoting and ledger platforms at Blockchain.com . This role requires a strong technical foundation, leadership capabilities, and a strategic mindset to optimize the crypto and fiat transaction flow while ensuring a scalable, reliable, and efficient order system. You will work closely with our institutional team and collaborate with Finance, Product, and Engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and effective execution. WHAT YOU WILL DO Technical Leadership & Execution Ensure the reliability and scalability of the orders platform, optimizing the buy/sell and swap flows. Uphold code quality standards, conduct code reviews, and ensure best practices for security and performance. Collaborate with the custodial, payments, and institutional teams, integrating their solutions into the quoting and ledger services. Monitor buy/sell/swap performance metrics, working to improve success rates and reduce friction in the user journey. Guide the team in debugging and incident resolution, ensuring swift and effective resolution of any Order-related technical issues. Implement and promote observability best practices, using monitoring tools to drive data-driven decisions and enhance operational efficiency. Team Development & People Management Mentor and develop engineers, fostering growth and technical excellence within the Orders team. Build a culture of collaboration and transparency, ensuring knowledge sharing and cross-functional teamwork. Provide constructive feedback to foster continuous improvement in engineering practices. Encourage ownership and accountability, ensuring engineers take initiative in addressing challenges related to quoting and ledger services. Delivery & Process Management Own the planning and execution of Orders-related engineering deliverables, ensuring timely and efficient delivery. Optimize work breakdown processes to ensure incremental delivery of improvements in the buy/sell/swap experience. Guide the team in prioritizing enhancements, balancing user requirements, platform security, and system performance. Establish efficient and scalable development workflows to handle high-throughput, low-latency environments. Collaborate with teams to ensure seamless integration and proactively address issues with third-party services. Cross-functional Collaboration & Business Impact Partner with Finance, Institutional, Frontend Engineering, and Product teams to ensure business requirements are met. Act as a bridge between engineering and finance and other teams, ensuring smooth execution of quoting and ledger-related accounting. Work closely with Product teams to improve transaction flow and reduce user friction. Engage with other teams to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met and integrations remain stable. Promote economic thinking, balancing costs and overall business impact while optimizing system performance. Culture & Leadership Foster a culture of innovation and process improvement, continuously iterating on the order experience. Lead cross-team collaboration, ensuring knowledge-sharing between Orders, Finance, Institutional teams, and other engineering teams. Advocate for data-driven decision-making, leveraging analytics to optimize platform performance. Drive alignment on long-term Orders strategy, ensuring the platform remains performant and scalable. WHAT YOU WILL NEED Technical Skills Proven experience leading engineering teams in high-performance systems, ideally a background in accounting or trading Strong software engineering and system architecture knowledge, particularly in designing scalable transaction flows. Experience with JVM languages (Kotlin, Java); this role is hands-on and requires time spent reviewing and contributing code. Familiarity with integrating third-party systems and services, ensuring seamless transaction and financial integrations. Experience with observability and monitoring tools to drive operational excellence. A passion for crypto technologies and their potential to disrupt the financial landscape. Leadership & Collaboration Proven experience mentoring and developing engineers, ensuring strong technical and professional growth. Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience working alongside Finance, Product and institutional teams. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless integration across business functions. Excellent communication skills, capable of bridging technical and non-technical discussions. Project & Process Management Experience leading orders-related projects, from planning to execution. Strong understanding of agile development methodologies and best practices for iterative improvements. Ability to balance technical and business priorities, ensuring both finance and customer experience are optimized.
