Head of Accounting Technology Day Rate Contract – Inside IR35 Banking Sector – London Deerfoot Recruitment is assisting a leading international banking group in the search for a Head of Accounting Technology. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced technology manager to lead a team supporting and enhancing accounting and general ledger platforms across EMEA, the Americas, and Asia. The Head of Accounting Technology will manage a team of 10-20 onshore and offshore technologists, overseeing the support, enhancement, and change management of critical accounting systems. This includes general ledger, financial reporting, revenue accounting, procure-to-pay, expense management, cash management, and fixed asset management platforms. The successful candidate will ensure robust governance, compliance, and operational excellence while driving continuous improvement and digital transformation. Key Responsibilities: Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary technology team supporting accounting and general ledger platforms. Oversee BAU support, change management, and project delivery for accounting technologies. Ensure adherence to SDLC, QA, and internal change standards across all releases and enhancements. Shape the functional and technical design of accounting platforms to meet business and regulatory requirements. Maintain a secure and compliant environment, supporting audits and demonstrating strong governance and controls. Collaborate with Finance, IT, business planning, and project teams to deliver high-quality solutions and seamless transitions into production. Manage vendor relationships to drive service quality, agility, and cost-effectiveness. Support financial and regulatory reporting, disaster recovery planning, and annual fire-drill scenarios. Promote a dynamic, innovative, and inclusive team culture. About You: Proven experience managing technology teams in a large, global financial services environment. Strong understanding of accounting functions, general ledger, financial reporting, and related platforms (e.g., Oracle Fusion Financials, MS SQL Server, SSRS). Expertise in project delivery, change management, and SDLC best practices. Technical proficiency in database languages (SQL, PL/SQL), ETL, middleware, and scheduling tools. Excellent understanding of accounting principles (double entry, trial balance, P&L, GAAP/IFRS, asset management, project costing, revenue accounting). Experience with cloud-based technology and digital transformation strategies (SaaS/PaaS/IaaS). Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills. Degree educated; full or part-qualified accounting qualifications preferred.
