Overview
Base Location: Glasgow, Edinburgh, London or Aberdeen
Business Unit: Evolv Energies is part of Xodus Group and is at the forefront of major international projects, providing integrated engineering expertise to support offshore developers, investors and the wider construction and installation supply chain through Concept, Pre-FEED, FEED and Detailed Design, as well as Construction and Installation activities. This work focuses on offshore wind, interconnectors and energy transition projects.
Role: The Engineering Manager – Structures will be accountable for the delivery of Structural engineering deliverables to our projects. You will provide technical expertise on ongoing projects, bids and proposals and represent Evolv Energies at client and stakeholder meetings as required.
Primary Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide inspirational line management, mentoring and leadership to the Structural Engineering team
- Collaborate on and lead the development of technology, people and growth of team capability
- Liaise and collaborate with internal stakeholders such as TAs, SMEs and other discipline Engineers to deliver structural engineering services ensuring compliance with industry design standards (ISO, API, DNV, NORSOK, etc.) and certification requirements
- Lead Structural Engineering excellence & deliverables through tenders, early-stage feasibility studies, preparation of project specifications and deliverables, design review and assurance
- Ensure projects and tenders are delivered in accordance with both Evolv Energies and Client engineering requirements whilst ensuring quality assurance throughout
- Ensure necessary Structural Engineering and technical resources are assigned to projects throughout tendering and delivery
- Ensure sound engineering practices and innovation are incorporated into designs to deliver value for clients, including pioneering the use of machine learning and AI techniques to increase efficiency
- Promotion and management of safety in design across projects while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and effective delivery of CDM Principal Designer and Designer roles
Role Requirements
A hands-on approach, with a can-do attitude and willingness to work with a team at all levels.
A Chartered Engineer with demonstrable Structural Engineering expertise in offshore wind, with a detailed understanding of engineering deliverables through Concept, Pre-FEED, FEED and Detailed Design and across Construction and Installation activities.
- Be a recognised expert in industry with demonstrable experience of working on offshore wind projects, ideally fixed and floating as well as offshore substations with a detailed understanding of Structural Engineering requirements
- Have significant previous experience in a structural engineering management role
- Excellent communication skills at all levels in the organisation & to key external stakeholders
- Have an interest to actively develop external and internal relationships and be prepared to take part in industry working groups and other professional bodies
