Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable adults? Richmond and Wandsworth Councils is looking for experienced Senior Social Workers within Adults to join our Localities Teams. We are focused on improving outcomes for vulnerable adults and their carers while supporting independence.

The team consists of a Service Manager, Assistant Service Managers, Senior Social Workers, Social Workers, and Social Care Assessors who provide a holistic, personalised, strength-based service to residents over the age of 18 who have physical disabilities and older people with physical and mental health disabilities.

You will be required to:

  • Undertake assessments of individual and carer needs and risks to encourage independence, provide support, and prevent harm.
  • Work in partnership with service users and carers using a person-centred approach.
  • Apply social work principles and values to guide professional practice and respect diversity.
  • Work within the Care Act 2014 and other relevant statutory frameworks.
  • Safeguard vulnerable adults in line with statutory duties and best practice.
  • Take responsibility for maintaining a good standard of professional practice and developing the core skills and knowledge required.
  • Assist with the management of budgets, ensuring that processes and procedures are carried out in a timely and effective way, including authorising assessments, reassessments, and arranging necessary funding to meet the requirements of individual support plans within available resources.
  • Supervise a Social Worker and Social Care Assessor within the team.

As a Senior Social Worker, you will be dealing with complex cases and leading by example through your practice. This role will consist of hybrid working including being based at the Councils' offices in Wandsworth, working from home, and completing visits where required.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A relevant professional qualification in social work, current registration with Social Work England.
  • Evidence of successfully passing the ASYE programme or be able to demonstrate capabilities and knowledge.
  • Excellent communication, decision-making, and time management skills.
  • Post qualification experience along with a good knowledge of relevant legislation and local authority responsibilities in the safeguarding of vulnerable adults.
