Our Renfrewshire-based client is looking for an Estimator to join the team on a full-time, permanent basis. As an Estimator, you are responsible for estimating a range of enquiries, considering all material, labour, and third-party costs, leading to successful projects wins, and delivery, based on accurate costing. Adept at pricing from drawings, sketches, and site visits. THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT * Higher level qualification in a fabrication or engineering subject. * Previous experience as a fabrication estimator. * Site installation experience. * The ability to read and understand drawings and interpret material and welding requirements. * Working knowledge of standard and special steel grades, industry standard labour norms, and NDT and testing standards. * Experience of estimating small to large steel fabrications and pipework / site installation projects, drawing on knowledge and experience of working in a similar environment (preferred). * Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel. JOB DESCRIPTION * Estimate project costs as part of the tendering procedure various areas of the business but mainly within the fabrication / welding sector of the business. * Prepare estimates in the advised standard format for all enquiries, and consult with other departments e.g., procurement, production, project management and quality. * Consult with supply chain contacts (in conjunction with procurement) to obtain the best value supply of materials and services for projects. * Set-up and maintenance of enquiries and records within the company IT structure and following standard guidelines for all records. * Report to Line Manager and Directors on the status of all project enquiries / bids. * Deputise for the Estimating Manager as required. * Ensure compliance with Company Health, Safety, and Environmental Procedures. * Ensure compliance with Company Quality Assurance Procedures. Primary Objectives: * Winning work that is profitable and can be delivered to budget. * Accurate estimates, borne out by post project reviews. * Establishing reliable norms within the estimates process, with continuous review feeding back into estimate model.
