From CNN to The Huffington Post, the world is talking about the innovative movement that is downsizing global poverty. The Borgen Project believes that leaders of the most powerful nations on earth should be doing more to address global poverty. The national campaign is working to make poverty a focus of U.S. and U.K. foreign policy.
Are you passionate about making a difference in the world? The Borgen Project is an international organization that works at the political level to improve living conditions for people impacted by war, famine, and poverty. With 20 years of experience in advocacy, The Borgen Project has supported the passage of numerous bills benefiting nearly 500 million people in developing countries.
This role focuses on making poverty a focus of U.S., Canadian, and U.K. foreign policy. It is a part-time, unpaid, remote programme requiring 12 hours per week for 12 weeks. If your availability is limited, you may work ahead and complete the programme in fewer weeks.
Responsibilities:
- Leading public and political outreach in your state and district.
- Meeting with members of Congress/Government in your State/District/Constituency.
- Representing The Borgen Project at various business, political, and community events.
- Assisting with fundraising by creating personal campaigns and meeting targets.
- Mobilizing individuals to contact their government representatives in support of key poverty-reduction legislation.
- Speaking to groups, classes, and organizations.
- Writing letters of support for key programs to political leaders, media, and other groups.
Experience:
No prior experience is necessary. We are looking for passionate individuals committed to fighting poverty and advocating for change, regardless of your GPA or background.
Details:
This is an unpaid programme, although college credit may be available. New programmes begin every month. You can choose your preferred start month.
