  • To conduct a range of laboratory tests on a variety of materials, including existing and new products, to include mechanical, quality control and other types of testing as appropriate.
  • To prepare commercial product sample requests as required by the Sales team, ensuring that samples are supplied to quality standards in a timely manner.
  • To operate test equipment in accordance with procedures and instructions and develop a good understanding of appropriate test standards.
  • To work as part of the R&D team, assisting with project work for the development of new products and the testing of existing products.
  • To provide assistance to the Quality Control team when required, working to the QC Technician job description and reporting into the Quality Supervisor.
  • To provide accurate and comprehensive records of work completed.
  • To participate and contribute to team meetings as required.
  • To support and uphold the values of continuous improvement methods and activities.
  • Assist with the resolution of any problems that could cause a delay to production, collaborating with other team members.
  • To be fully aware of all laboratory procedures, seeking guidance where required.
  • To develop good understanding of the product range, quality, health & safety and environmental requirements and to follow internal policies and procedures.
  • To liaise with colleagues across the business as and when required.

Requirements:

  • Good general education to at least GCSE level including English and Maths
  • Education to β€˜A’ Level or above (or equivalent) in a science subject, ideally chemistry
  • Experience working in an industrial laboratory is desirable
  • Understanding or experience of both wet chemical and mechanical laboratory tests or the willingness and aptitude to learn
  • IT skills to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Organised and methodical approach with good problem-solving skills
  • The curiosity to learn and develop own knowledge and skills and to contribute to product development activities
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to communicate with colleagues in different departments across the business
  • Adaptable and flexible, a team player with a β€˜can do’ attitude
