We are seeking a dedicated Dumper Truck Operator to join our team in Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire. The primary role will be to move waste around our large site, transporting unprocessed or non-recyclable waste to the landfill. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for operating mobile plant machinery, including dumper trucks, forklift trucks, telehandlers, and front-loading shovels.
This role requires a flexible approach to work and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
Shifts: Monday to Friday 7am - 5pm
Overtime: Opportunity for overtime (especially during peak seasons)
Holidays: 24 days annual leave + option to buy up to 5 extra days of leave
Main Responsibilities:
- Reporting any health and safety hazards or incidents to the Shift Supervisor / Lead Supervisor
- Operating mobile plant, including dumper truck, forklift truck, telehandler, front-loading shovel, and 360 excavator, as well as performing first-line maintenance
- Vehicle marshalling / controlling the tipping hall operation
- Maintaining clean working conditions in the fuel reception area, tipping hall, and delivery routes
- Ensuring the constant availability of waste to be processed
- Carrying out waste inspections and reporting non-conforming waste
- Loading collection vehicles and static plant
Skills and Experience:
- Experience of mobile plant (dumper truck, front loader, telehandler, FLT) – desired but not essential as we will provide training
- A strong teamwork ethic
- A flexible approach to working
- An ability to work in a changing, fast-paced environment
- Experience in an industry such as waste management, quarrying, cement works, construction, or steel would be advantageous
