We have a fantastic opportunity for a Materials Technician / Engineer to join a leading specialist materials site testing company, based in the Derbyshire / Staffordshire region. The successful candidate will be based in the Midlands, and will be responsible for on-site testing of road construction materials, including asphalt, concrete, and soil sampling.
At a technical level, the detailed nature of the work is as follows:
- Asphalt: Site sampling (coring) and testing using Pavement Quality Meter gauges, rolling straight edge, temperature measurements, laying records, and surface texture testing.
- Soils: Sampling of materials from site, NDM testing, plate bearing / CBR testing, DCP, and sand replacement testing.
- Concrete: Sampling fresh concrete, slump test, air content, flow table testing, and making of concrete cubes with pour records.
The ideal applicant should have at least 1 year of practical construction materials testing / sampling experience, and will ideally have a CSCS card, although this is not a pre-requisite.
Please note: The nature of the work could require the incumbent to work occasional nights or weekends. Overtime rates will apply.
