About the Role
Meridian Business Support is seeking an experienced Oncology Pharmacist to lead and enhance our client's specialist oncology pharmacy services. This pivotal role involves managing the oncology pharmacy team, ensuring the safe and effective use of oncology medications, and providing expert advice to consultants, clinicians, and patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver an exemplary pharmacy service in line with current legislation, clinical requirements, and professional standards.
- Lead, manage, and develop the specialist oncology pharmacy service.
- Provide expert advice and support to consultants, clinicians, and patients on the safe, appropriate, and cost-effective use of medicines.
- Advise hospital departments on the safe management of medicines, ensuring compliance with legislation and professional standards.
- Promote a multidisciplinary, patient-focused approach to deliver efficient, high-quality healthcare services.
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate pharmaceutical care to meet patients' health and well-being needs.
- Assess the health and well-being of patients with complex and changing needs concerning their medications.
- Plan, monitor, and evaluate the movement of medicines.
- Establish and maintain effective communication on complex and sensitive issues.
- Lead in the development of knowledge, ideas, and work practices.
- Manage data, information, computer records, and stock management documents.
- Plan, monitor, and assure the quality of technology applications for chemotherapy treatment.
- Monitor and maintain physical and financial resources for the work area.
- Assist with research and data collection.
Requirements
Essential:
- Degree (BSc/MSc Hons) in Pharmacy.
- GPhC registered with no restrictions or conditions.
- Previous experience as a pharmacist specialising in oncology services.
- Experience working in a hospital pharmacy setting.
- Highly specialist knowledge through a diploma in clinical pharmacy and/or acquired through training and experience, particularly in oncology.
- Competence across a range of pharmaceutical subjects.
Desirable:
- Supervisory or management qualification.
- Experience working in partnership with consultants and across clinical teams.
