We’re looking for an Early Years Kitchen Assistant to join our Bright Horizons Bristol Day Nursery and Preschool, situated under the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge, and overlooking the beautiful surroundings of the Ashton Court Estate. There are good public transport links and onsite park.
The 56 place nursery, has a real home from home feel, with many of our staff with 10+ years service. The nursery has recently undergone a full refurbishment and boasts an impressive outdoor space with pagoda\’s, mud kitchens and lots of room to explore and play. All rooms have access to the garden and use it daily to support children\’s physical development. The indoor area is also spacious and offers an array of learning opportunities for all age groups; from the calming sleep area in the baby room, to loose parts play and a curiosity corner in our Toddler room. We offer a school readiness programme in preschool as well as opportunities for Forest School sessions, mindfulness and gentle stretching and exciting opportunities for experiments and science activities. The Preschool children champion our Eco-Schools accreditation with the support of the wider nursery.

The Role
As an Early Years Kitchen Assistant, you will support the Chef in the preparation and cooking of age-appropriate food for all the children in the nursery, with minimum wastage, and in keeping the kitchen a clean and safe environment. In the absence of the Chef, you will take responsibility for the running of the kitchen, and ensuring all dietary requirements are catered for and clearly communicated to teams.
What we’re looking for

Previous experience within a cooking role, in a domestic or commercial property

Passion for nutrition, and inspiring others in healthy eating

Ability to demonstrate a sound knowledge of managing different dietary requirements, particularly food allergies

Food Safety CIEH L2 or above (or equivalent) – this must be passed on day 1 in post

Sound knowledge of COSHH

Great communication skills, with colleagues, children, and parents

Ability to work under pressure
