We have a unique opportunity to join our London based team where you will operate at the intersection of strategy, portfolio management and technical excellence collaborating closely with Senior Leaders and local teams to drive profitability and resilience within SCOR Business Solutions (SBS) the SCOR Syndicate and the Cedant Fac business units of SCOR P&C.

Some of the key areas of responsibility will be focused on the following:
- Underwriting activities: Working with the CUO Casualty R/I & SBS and the current Casualty Technical Practice Leader - SBS & Cedant Fac to assist in defining the top-down Underwriting plan view that prioritizes profitability by actively engaging with the business to steer the portfolio in the regions you support by optimizing the deployment of capacities by products, influencing the portfolio diversification and portfolio balance, and developing strategies with the underwriting teams, regional management and the CUO Casualty to reduce volatility and increase profitability.
- Provide support and direction to the SBS and Cedant Fac underwriting teams to manage market cycles by challenging them to optimize & push "favourable market" opportunities and prepare for potential market downturns.
- Assist the CUO casualty in steering the SBS and Cedant Fac teams in new and renewal negotiations while complying with P&C Reinsurance Underwriting Guidelines and Procedures.
- As a Technical Practice Leader for the casualty lines of business in SBS and Cedant Fac, responsibilities include contribution to the maintenance and update of the guidelines related to P&C support of the local underwriters.
- Assist underwriters in the preparation of Underwriting Committee referrals and preparation of Risk Control referrals by assessing all underwriting referrals within 1 business day from SBS and Cedant Fac received from the regions you support.
- As a subject matter expert, coordinate training with the CUO Casualty and the other Technical Practice Leaders on the CUO Casualty team to provide training (product, underwriting, etc.) to the SBS and Cedant Fac underwriting teams when necessary.
- Actively participating in all strategic underwriting matters - including controls concerning Casualty Underwriting.
- Frequent communication with the underwriters in assigned regions and actively participate in the local underwriting team meetings to ensure they are executing the strategic plan and making the necessary adjustments to account for market cycles.
- Assist in defining the portfolio strategy for Casualty in coordination with local underwriting teams, regional Leaders and the CUO Casualty.
- Assist in defining the casualty risk appetite for SBS and Cedant Fac and establishing the Underwriting Guidelines and monitoring the portfolios to ensure compliance.
The ideal candidate will have the following experiences and expertise:
- Solution-Driven with a proactive approach, a positive attitude, and the ability to think critically.
- Extensive years of insurance or facultative underwriting in all or some of the following areas of risk: General Liability (primary, umbrellas, excess), Product Liability, Product Recall, Environmental Liability, Professional Liability, Executive Risk, Political Risk, Surety and Credit Insurance.
- Understanding of the legal systems in the US, EMEA, LATAM and APAC and the impact on the casualty lines.
- Technical expertise in the different policy forms used in these markets.
- Familiarity of the London Market (Lloyds syndicates, company market) and advantage to writing via each platform.
- Capable to build personal relationships with the selected clients (distribution partners, insureds).
- Ability to motivate, inspire and drive the SBS and Cedant Fac underwriters and transverse specialists such as actuaries (pricing & reserving) and claim professionals.
- Have an open mind, active listening skills, strong communication skills and willingness to share ideas and perspective in a collaborative environment.
- Flexible enough to lead / handle several projects and duties at the same time and ability to pivot to a priority that may arise while still ensuring all tasks are completed in a timely manner.
- High level of integrity and ethics.
- Ability to accept responsibility and accountability for all decisions and actions.
Required Education:
- University degree preferable with a strong business or finance focus.
- Graduate degree, MBA or equivalent desired but not required.
- Proficiency in English required. German, French, Spanish or other languages a plus but not required.
