Sign-on Bonuses for Medical Assistants at MaineHealth:
- $4,000 for candidates with 0-1 years of experience (full-time)
- $5,000 for candidates with 1+ years of experience (full-time)
Eligibility criteria include being hired into a full or part-time MA position. Bonuses are prorated for part-time hires; per diem hires are ineligible. Current MaineHealth employees and former employees with less than 6 months since separation are ineligible.
Role Summary
The Medical Assistant (MA) supports patient care and administrative tasks in a team-based environment, ensuring smooth patient flow. The MA works under the license of a physician or advanced practice practitioner when performing clinical and patient care duties.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. Must meet one of the following: graduate from an accredited vocational or community college program in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience; completion of an Adult Education Medical Assistant program with 6 months of clinical experience; or 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice. Equivalent experience evaluated case-by-case.
License/Certifications: Current certification from AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT preferred or achieved within one year. Current BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days of start. For positions in New Hampshire, NH Med Tech License or NH EMT/National Registry EMT license is required.
Experience: At least 6 months of clinical experience with certification or 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
