The Waste Water Treatment Operator is responsible for water treatment and distribution systems, including both potable water and waste water. Functions involve the maintenance and repair of water distribution and treatment equipment. This position will take measurements of water quality and adjust the chemicals used to ensure water meets parent-company standards. Requires basic knowledge of Federal and State water quality regulations. Works under the supervision of the Director of Quality Control and must be able to effectively take direction.

Essential functions

  • Add chemicals such as chlorine or lime to disinfect and treat water to meet state, federal and parent company standards.
  • Inspect equipment or monitor operating conditions, meters, and gauges to determine load requirements and detect malfunctions.
  • Check daily H2O reports at required intervals.
  • Check flow rates on the Conventional Lime Treatment System and sludge for the system after check.
  • Collect samples for testing purposes both in-house testing and third-party labs.
  • Record operational data or meter and gauge readings on specified forms.
  • Operate and adjust controls on equipment to purify and clarify water, process or dispose of sewage, and generate power.
  • Meet Steaming of Carbon Towers requirements and annual carbon Change-out.
  • Back wash and forward wash all sand filters and carbon towers.
  • Check UV systems.
  • Change polisher filters once a month.
  • Sanitize H2O system twice a year.
  • Rebuild lime sulfate pumps, isolators, etc.
  • Keep H2O room extremely clean and locked at all times.
  • Change chlorine gas cylinders.

WATER ROOM (RO System)

  • Check daily H2O reports at required intervals.
  • Check flow rates on the RO System.
  • Calibrate Ozone monitors and test equipment.
  • Collect samples for testing purposes both in-house testing and third-party labs.
  • Meet Steaming of Carbon Towers requirements and annual carbon Change-out.
  • Back wash and forward wash all sand filters and carbon towers.
  • Check UV systems.
  • Change polisher filters once a month.
  • Keep H2O room extremely clean and locked at all times.
  • Change chlorine gas cylinders.

WASTE TREATMENT AREAS

  • Document Influent of city water and effluents of the waste treatment flowrates.
  • Maintain proper levels of waste treatment chemicals.
  • Check flow rates on the waste Treatment System.
  • Calibrate probes/monitors and test equipment.
  • Change polisher filters once a month.
  • Perform daily olfactory testing.
  • Collect samples for testing purposes both in-house testing and third-party labs.
  • Keep Waste Treatment room extremely clean and locked at all times.
  • Have general knowledge of how a waste treatment system operates including process flow, oil separation, biology, air sampling, tank level controls, etc.
  • Have general working knowledge of motors, pumps, compressors and air actuated valves.

FOOD SAFETY

  • Follow the Good Manufacturing Program GMPs as listed in Code of Federal Regulations CFR 21 section 110.
  • Participate in various Food Safety related training that Buffalo Rock utilizes.
  • Report potential issues related to Food Safety.

  • Exhibit a high level of ethical and moral conduct while at work or in attendance of any off-site function during work hours or after work hours while representing the Buffalo Rock Company.

  • Computer Skills: Must be proficient in Microsoft suite of products including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
