Role: Interim Data Architect / Database Analyst
Contract Length: 9 Months
Hybrid Role: 3 days on site in London
Daily Rate: £650, INSIDE IR35

The interim Data Architect / Database Analyst will serve in a dual role, split 50% / 50%, to support a key government client in London by defining and implementing its data strategy.
Data ArchitectYou will have a strong background of delivering excellent data architecture and design solutions (including data process redesign), and a thorough understanding of Microsoft cloud-based data management tools. You will be playing a leading role in designing the data strategy for the organisation.
- Documenting business teams' future requirements for data management, analytics, and reporting
- Reviewing the design of the organisation's current Central Data Store and assessing whether it can meet the future reporting requirements
- Assessing the feasibility and desirability of transitioning CDS to a future cloud-based Enterprise Data Warehouse/Data Lake
- Designing a cohesive data model and data dictionary
- Collaborating with business and technology stakeholders to assess, plan and implement effective data solutions which optimise the use of technology, reduce operational risk and deliver stakeholder value
- Establishing the Data Architect role and implementing the supporting governance and controls required for the organisation to adhere to industry best practice in the management of its data assets
You must be able to present examples of successful data architecture and design solutions that you have implemented in previous assignments, preferably in the financial services sector.
Database AnalystYou will ideally have a background in operational database administration and support within financial services. You will be providing DBA cover for the IT infrastructure team.
- Providing technical support across all SQL Database environments
- Provide operational support for DB issues initiated from incidents or changes
- Work on projects and provide effective support to project teams to ensure the smooth transition of new databases and initiatives into the production environment
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. You will demonstrate extensive recent practical experience of designing and implementing data architectural models and the design of a data model and data dictionary. You will demonstrate strong experience in the use of Microsoft cloud-based data management tools and services.
- Ability to contribute to internal processes to support the design of Power BI reports/dashboards and the underlying semantic model, working with stakeholders to understand requirements and present data in a way that provides meaningful insights
Experience in Investment banking operational environments would be desirable.
Technical RequirementsYou must have strong expertise in data modeling techniques, data warehousing concepts and tools, knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM), and the ability to design and optimize T-SQL queries for high-performance data retrieval/manipulation.
