We are seeking an Operational Manager for Apprenticeships to join a fantastic FE College Group based in West London to join their Technical Apprenticeship School, focusing on Electrical / Building Services. This role is pivotal in driving the growth of our apprenticeship provision through both levy and non-levy funding, aimed at meeting regional economic needs. The successful candidate will manage the curriculum and staffing arrangements for apprentices across Building Services, ensuring high retention, timely achievement, and quality improvement.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Recruitment and Induction of Apprentices: Coordinate with the Apprenticeship and Skills team to ensure potential applicants receive timely information and guidance. Design and deliver effective induction programmes, ensuring involvement of all stakeholders.
  • Design and Delivery of Programmes: Work closely with employers to design training plans that meet both educational and industry standards. Ensure timely assessment of apprentices and manage the preparation of training plans and resource materials.
  • Quality and Curriculum Management: Maintain high standards of teaching and learning through regular quality assurance checks and staff development. Manage curriculum reviews and implement action plans to continually enhance the quality of provision.
  • Management and Leadership: Lead and manage the Building Services team, ensuring efficient delivery and professional development. Develop and maintain strong relationships with employers, external partners, and internal teams to support the growth strategy of the school.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Qualifications: Minimum Level 3 qualification in a vocational or academic area. Level 5 teaching qualification recognised for the FE sector (e.g., Cert Ed, PGCE, DET). Assessor/verifier awards.
  • Experience: Proven experience in building and maintaining effective working relationships with employers and external partners. Minimum of 3 years' experience in teaching or assessing, with a strong background in delivering apprenticeships. Knowledge of quality improvement processes and recent apprenticeship reforms.
  • Skills: Excellent planning, organisational, and communication skills. Strong IT skills and proficiency in using educational technology and platforms. Commitment to Equal Opportunities and Safeguarding within an educational environment.
