We undertake both new-build and refurbishment projects of varying size and complexity, resulting in innovative, sustainable and commercially viable delivery. We currently have an excellent new opportunity for a Head of Safety and Risk Management to join our Exeter based team on a full-time, permanent basis. As the Head of Safety and Risk Management, you will be responsible for leading and advising on the development, implementation, and delivery of the safety, health and risk management strategy, service improvement, and implementation plans. Main Responsibilities: Accountable for the implementation of an appropriate and robust safety and risk management system framework across the organisation, ensuring that obligations Represent the company at a senior level with the Health and Safety Executive, contractors, partners, and clients to forge excellent relationships. Act as CDM Advisor and Principal Designer on behalf of clients and provide guidance and advice to the clients Competent Persons, carry out the Client’s duties under the Health and Safety at Work Act, The Building Safety Act, The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations, COSHH Regulations, Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, Approved Code of Practice L8 and the Ionising Radiations Regulations 1999 in respect of Radon Gas in the workplace. Provide guidance and advice to clients and support them to develop policies and standards on the management of asbestos, legionella, and Radon Gas including implementation, monitoring, and identification of training needs. Provide technical and advisory support to stakeholders, and other technical team members. Ensure that measures to prevent the potential release of asbestos fibres and risk of legionella are advised to the appropriate client representative, including the assessment of individual buildings, specification, procurement and project management of suitable contractors and consultants. Coordinate the establishment and integration of health, safety and risk management key performance indicators, reporting across the company and delivering regular performance reports to various meetings. Implement programs of management level audits in respect of the health and safety management system. Ensure directors, senior managers and colleagues are aware of the risks relevant to their parts of the business. Accountable for the organisation compliance with all statutory regulations, industry codes of practice, policies, and procedures. Prepare the organisation for changes in legislation relating to H&S and Risk Management issues. Our Successful Candidate: Demonstrable experience of Construction, Health and Safety Legislation, the Management of the Hazards / Risks associated with Asbestos, Legionella and Radon. Demonstrable experience of providing Health & Safety Consultancy Services. Chartered Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH), or Certified Membership of the Institute of Risk Management (CMIRM), ideally with 5 years post qualification experience. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in an Occupational Health and Safety related discipline. P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings Qualification, or be prepared to work towards obtaining qualification. NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety (or equivalent) and Professional Membership of the Institute of Fire Engineers (or equivalent), or be prepared to work towards obtaining qualification. Full UK Drivers Licence to meet the travel requirements for the role.
