Job Description:

Personal Assistant / Enabler – Location: Blyth

To provide support for a young person with Down Syndrome:

• Support access to community and leisure activities.
• Promote independence and assist with transactions.
• Support safe crossing of roads and understanding dangers.
• Assist with friendships, relationships, and staying safe from strangers.
• No personal care support needed; the individual is independent.
• Communication may involve Makaton and VOCA; encouragement to stay interactive is needed.

Hours: 3 hours per month

Rate of pay: £13.09 per hour

Holiday entitlement is 5.6 weeks per year (pro-rata). Employer covers mileage, fuel, and activity costs.

Person Specification:

• Experience and positive understanding of children with disabilities.
• High initiative, punctuality, and reliability.
• Flexible, caring, and respectful of confidentiality.
• Full and clean driving license and insured for business use.
• Enhanced DBS clearance required (cost covered by Northumberland County Council).

Additional Details:

Hours are flexible, including during school holidays. Support includes social and leisure activities, and promoting independence.
