Canine - Contract Support Dog Handler

Are you looking for a stepping stone within security and have a passion for dogs?

Although no experience is required, you will need to have a valid SIA and a full manual driving licence. You will also need to have a suitable home for our highly trained dogs.

Ward Security will provide full training, a highly trained dog, dog food and cover veterinary care costs.

As a Security Dog Handler, you will need to be physically fit as you will be patrolling a number of sites ensuring a safe and secure environment for our clients.

Pay rate and Benefits: £11.44 – £17.00 per hour pending on site. SIA Licensing savings scheme, Cycle to Work Salary Sacrifice scheme, Pension, and Life Assurance benefits. Shift Pattern: Days/ Nights/ Weekends – Please note this is a zero-hour contract although plenty of hours to be offered.

Knowledge and skills required:

1. Able to read and write coherent sentences to construct legible reports.
2. Good interpersonal skills.
3. Excellent observational and decision-making skills.
4. Physical fitness and the ability to handle the demands of the job, including patrolling and responding to incidents.
5. Strong communication skills and the ability to work well alone and in a team.
6. Valid clean manual driving licence.
7. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct regular patrols with a trained security dog to deter and detect potential security threats.
2. Respond promptly and effectively to security incidents and emergencies.
3. Maintain a high level of vigilance and situational awareness at all times.
4. Ensure the welfare and proper handling of the security dog, including regular training, feeding, and grooming.
5. Complete detailed incident reports and maintain accurate records of daily activities.
6. Provide excellent customer service to clients and the public.
