At Banana Moon Day Nurseries, we are currently seeking a skilled and passionate Nursery Chef to join our team. As the Nursery Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking nutritious meals for our nursery children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and execute a menu that follows nutritional guidelines and meets the specific needs of young children
- Prepare meals for up to 50 children daily, including breakfast, lunch, and late afternoon tea
- Ensure all meals are prepared and served in a safe and hygienic manner
- Manage the kitchen, including menu planning, budgeting, and ordering food supplies
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety in the kitchen
- Engage with children during cooking sessions, allowing them to have hands-on experience with food preparation
- Work closely with the nursery staff to accommodate special dietary requirements and allergies
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar cooking role, ideally within a nursery or care home setting
- Strong knowledge of safe food handling and hygiene practices
- Ability to plan menus that are nutritious, balanced, and appealing to young children
- Excellent organizational skills to manage the kitchen efficiently
- Creative and adaptable to accommodate different dietary needs and preferences
This is a full-time, permanent position with flexible working hours, Monday to Friday. A valid Food Hygiene certificate at minimum level 2 is required. An enhanced DBS check is also mandatory due to working in a nursery environment.
