Meyer Scott Ref: VR/09077 Salary: £29,605 – £33,966 per annum Location: Barton Road, Laundry Farm Type: Temporary to Permanent Estates Division is looking to recruit a Carpenter Joiner to carry out various building fabric repairs around the Universities Operational Estate. The range of works is vast and requires an interest in building maintenance along with skills in working with all kinds of materials and machine shop and joinery experience. As part of our in-house building fabric team, you will provide front line support to University Departments by undertaking the routine fabric maintenance and passive fire work throughout the operational estate. Experience with passive fire work is important but not essential as training will be provided. You will carry out repairs and alterations to fenestration, internal and external fabric repairs, passive fire protection to doors and partitions, repairs to fixtures and fittings, produce bespoke items to overcome specific problems in departments, use specific machine shop fixed machinery including carrying out inspections and changing parts, provide immediate response to emergency and urgent situations, carry out complete repairs and changes to bespoke locks, closures and other ironmongery items and anything that is requested of a maintenance task within the role holders skill set. About you: The ideal candidate will have a good general education with experience in carpentry and joinery. You should have excellent organisational and communication skills along with the ability to work alone or as a team member. A proven qualification in carpentry joinery to NVQ level 3 or similar is essential. This is a great opportunity to work as part of a small and friendly team in and around the vast University estate. A full British driving licence is essential for the role.
