Bexley Council, in partnership with The Friends of Lesnes Abbey and Woods (FOLAW), has secured funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) to mark the 500th anniversary of the dissolution of Lesnes Abbey. Lesnes 500 will be a 2-year programme of events, activities, and small capital projects commencing May 2025 and concluding in April 2027.
Bringing your experience in externally funded community participation programmes, formal and informal learning, working with volunteers, event delivery, and partnerships, your focus will be to ensure the successful and high-quality delivery of the project’s activities. You will work closely with project partners and diverse local communities surrounding the park and the London Borough of Bexley to deliver various strands of the project.
The Project Manager will oversee the entire programme and will be responsible for:
- Overseeing partnerships and commissioned elements of the programme
- Marketing the programme, liaising with partners and Bexley Communications Team
- Chairing the Lesnes 500 Steering Group, comprising representatives from each partnership project
- Managing the Evaluation Strategy and budgets, including reporting to NLHF
- Ensuring each element of the programme meets Health and Safety requirements
- Ensuring grant funding is used in accordance with funding guidelines

Candidate Profile
We are looking for candidates who:
- are educated to degree level in a relevant subject area (e.g., heritage and culture) or have equivalent professional experience
- have experience delivering National Lottery Heritage Funded or equivalent programmes, including event and programme development
- can work with various partners and manage partnership agreements
- have experience working with volunteers
- have experience marketing across social media platforms, writing web content, liaising with graphic design teams for promotional materials
