Messenger Construction is looking for a Working Carpenter Foreman to join the Staffs team. This role could suit someone wanting to gradually move from hands-on work to management. The candidate must be able to manage the site team effectively to ensure projects are completed to the required standards. The role is site-based and involves supervising a mix of employees and subcontractors.
CARPENTRY DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Review plans and follow instructions accurately
- Cut and shape timber for floorboards, doors, skirting boards, and window frames
- Construct and fit wooden structures such as staircases, door frames, roof timbers, and partition walls
- Make and assemble both fitted and freestanding furniture
- Install kitchens, cupboards, and shelving
- Build temporary wooden supports for setting concrete (shuttering)
- Fit and finish interior woodwork in client buildings
- Follow all health and safety regulations
FOREMAN DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Supervise and organise the site team
- Plan and assign tasks to meet deadlines and quality standards
- Inspect work to ensure it meets safety regulations and quality expectations
- Collaborate with site managers, contractors, and other trades
- Ensure all health and safety regulations are followed
- Solve on-site issues and provide technical guidance
- Carry out limited site administration, recording tasks as needed
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Proven experience as a Carpenter
- Ability to follow technical drawings and plans
- Strong maths skills for measuring and calculating quantities and angles
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in measurements
