Specialist Children\’s & Young Person\’s Occupational Therapist

We are looking for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our Children’s Community Therapy team. The role involves providing a specialist and comprehensive Occupational Therapy service for children and young people aged 0‑18 years and their families within Herefordshire.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage and review your own caseload and interventions.
  • Use evidence‑based standardised and non‑standardised assessment tools in appropriate settings.
  • Agree child‑focused aims, goals and objectives for all OT interventions.
  • Design individual therapeutic treatment plans, delivered either by yourself or delegated to supported workers, families, carers or school staff.
  • Provide specialist assessment and treatment, and refer children to other specialist services as needed.
  • Work autonomously in the community across Herefordshire, including homes, therapy suites and schools.

Person Specification

Essential – Education & Qualifications

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Significant postgraduate experience and CPD relevant to Children’s Occupational Therapy or specialist courses (or equivalent experience).

Essential – Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Knowledge and experience of using both standardised and non‑standardised assessments.
  • Computer and keyboard skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and ongoing use of OT core skills.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of legislation pertaining to children.

Essential – Experience

  • Experience of working with children as an Occupational Therapist.
