Scientific Director
Reports to the EVP, Medical & Scientific Services
Job Summary
The Scientific Director will have the skills and ability to lead multiple projects for multiple clients simultaneously. They will serve as the medical expert for the teams they support, understanding the therapeutic landscape and related scientific data. They will be responsible for directly developing high-quality medical and commercial content that supports the strategic product positioning of their clients.
- Develop meaningful strategic content, provide strategic alignment, ensure medical accuracy, and accept responsibility for the scientific content in various projects, including advisory boards, promotional slide presentations, and scripts.
- Anticipate clients\’ scientific content needs and proactively address them to ensure complete satisfaction. Maintain high standards of quality control and client service.
- Plan and execute project work collaboratively with senior management, project, and account teams to ensure appropriate scientific support and communication.
- Create high-quality written materials that are scientifically accurate and suitable for the target audience.
- Work independently to incorporate revisions and address reviewer questions/comments.
- Manage workload effectively to meet timelines smoothly.
- Maintain scientific integrity of content during project execution.
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
- Doctoral-level degree (PhD, MD, PharmD) in a relevant field preferred, with expertise likely in solid and hematologic oncology and/or ALS.
- Extensive experience in medical communications, medical education, pharmaceutical marketing, medical affairs, content production, or equivalent.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences including clients, patients, and the scientific community.
- Proficiency in MS365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
- Knowledge of ABPI code of practice related to business and product legalities.
- Ability to foster collaboration and teamwork within the account team.
- Understanding of evolving medical education policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Ability to interact with third parties such as agency vendors and professional organizations.
- Knowledge of various therapeutic categories and ability to learn quickly.
- Comprehensive understanding of the professional education (on-label) process.
Travel Requirements
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed to maintain effective client relationships.
