Assistant Paralegal – Crown Court Department- location Birmingham I am seeking a full-time caseworker / paralegal in the Magistrates’ Court department and then one for the Crown Court department. My preference is for the person to have at least 3 year’s prior Magistrates’ Court casework experience Driving licence required The position would be an assistant paralegal within our Crown Court department. The description below probably sums up the role well: – “You shall undertake the duties and role of a caseworker which shall include, but not exclusively comprise of diary management, opening and maintaining orderly files, preparing, and drafting letters as appropriate, dealing with telephone calls and enquiries, dealing with legal correspondence and communication, including scanning and printing papers. The role shall require you to peruse and consider evidence, analysing its strengths and weaknesses. This may involve you preparing substantial schedules summarising witness statements and exhibits, including electronic evidence. You shall be required to attend clients, advise them in relation to the evidence and obtain their instructions in the preparation of cases for Trial. Trial preparation shall invariably involve preparing and drafting instructions to Counsel, identifying and instructing experts and may involving tracing defence witnesses and obtaining formal statements of evidence.
