NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
This is a fulltime, permanent post of 37 hours per week, with a shift pattern of long days/nights working 7 over 14.
The Operational Safety Team within the Forensic Directorate, particularly at Rowanbank Clinic, has the responsibility for the safety of all patients, staff and the general public. This will be provided through the provision of a secure and supportive environment which will facilitate the balance between essential security and the creation of a therapeutic milieu.
The safety operative requires the ability to work within a team to deliver agreed security standards, policies and procedures within the unit including working without direct supervision on occasions. They should also have experience working in a security and/or customer focused environment with competence in customer care skills including operation of a switchboard/telephone systems and disability awareness.
The Safety Operative will:
- Maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Provide a high quality security service within Rowanbank Clinic.
- Act as a first point of contact for patients, staff and visitors to Rowanbank Clinic and ensure queries are dealt with or redirected to the relevant person.
- Ensure that all persons entering and leaving are authorised to do so.
- Ensure all staff, visitors and vehicles entering and leaving the Clinic are monitored and recorded as per Rowanbank Operational Policies, and when physically necessary, are searched and/or escorted.
- Ensure security and safety is maintained through the direct supervision and escorting of contractors and visitors.
- Monitor and respond to systems alarms by investigating reasons, initiating responses and monitoring responses where appropriate.
- Assist the Team Leader in streamlining the use of Reception, Control Room and Community Centre.
- Be required to have effective communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to remain calm under emergency situations.
