Job overview:

We are seeking a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team at the Redbridge Home Treatment Team based at Goodmayes Hospital. We are a HTAS accredited mental health crisis service that offers adults of working age the least restrictive option and an alternative to hospital admission using a holistic approach. Additionally, we facilitate early discharge from hospital.

Main duties of the job:

  • You will have a pivotal role in ensuring patients receive a high standard of Occupational Therapy care throughout the OT process.
  • To undertake comprehensive standardised assessments and risk assessments to co-produce meaningful goals and 1:1 interventions.
  • To signpost/refer to appropriate services in the community.
  • To develop, and jointly facilitate group interventions.
  • To ensure carers and family are included and supported in care planning.
  • To complete generic home visits based on service needs as required, prioritising OT provision.

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period.

NELFT places a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction which will include mandatory training and systems training.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be able to work autonomously and have experience of working as a Band 5 Occupational Therapist. You will have excellent communication and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and problem solve. It is desirable for you to have access to your own vehicle as you will be required to complete home visits.

Person specification:

  • Qualifications: Degree, HCPC Registered, Evidence of CPD
  • Experience: Providing staff supervision and appraisal to qualified and non-professionally aligned staff, Risk assessment working in an inpatient or community mental health setting, Ability to perform under pressure and able to use own initiative, Experience of using standardised assessments, Experience of facilitating and developing group interventions
  • Other: Excellent interpersonal skills, To be flexible and supportive especially when plans change rapidly, To be able to drive and have access to a car
