Job Description

  1. Act as the Group MD\’s right hand; the Chief Operating Officer will shape and execute the company\’s operational and growth strategy.
  2. Lead and improve back-office functions including finance, HR, IT, supply chain, legal, and compliance.
  3. Support the entire product lifecycle—from design and manufacturing to logistics and customer experience.
  4. Drive operational efficiency, process optimisation, and scalability in a fast-paced consumer environment.
  5. Oversee key commercial and legal agreements, managing external legal counsel as needed.
  6. Provide performance insights through KPIs, dashboards, and operational reports.
  7. Serve as a strategic point of contact for cross-departmental issues, acting as an integrator across functions.
  8. Take responsibility for risk management, regulatory compliance, and internal controls.
  9. Support international operations, including partner/vendor management and regional logistics.

The Successful Applicant

  • Chief Operating Officer experience
  • Proven leadership in a consumer manufacturing business with revenues exceeding £100 million
  • Strong understanding of the manufacturing cycle for physical consumer products, ideally involving international production and distribution
  • Success in scaling back-office operations and enhancing organisational effectiveness
  • Experience working closely with or reporting directly to a CEO/MD as a strategic advisor
  • Knowledge of commercial and legal processes, including contract negotiation and compliance
  • Resilient, pragmatic, and hands-on with strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of influencing at all levels
  • Located near the HQ in Essex
