Overview

Functional Assessor – PIP (Personal Independence Payment – L3)

As a Functional Assessor, you will interview claimants to understand the challenges they face and conduct detailed assessments via telephone, video, or face-to-face appointments. You will determine how a claimant’s disability, condition, or illness affects their ability to carry out everyday activities, and produce fair, evidence-based reports for PIP decisions as part of the DWP’s Health Assessment and Advisory Service (HAAS).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments with claimants via telephone, video, or in-person appointments.
  • Interview claimants to understand daily living activities affected by their condition.
  • Produce fair, evidence-based reports based on assessment findings.
  • Analyse information critically to create accurate and concise reports.
  • Interpret clinical information and evidence and maintain professional standards in written communication with adherence to the code of conduct.
  • Support a positive experience for claimants and colleagues while meeting quality and productivity targets.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1 year of clinical experience as a qualified healthcare professional (nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, or paramedics).
  • An ability to demonstrate broad clinical knowledge and proficiency with computer software including Microsoft Office.

Essential Qualifications (by profession)

  • Nurses: Qualified Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD); member of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN).
  • Physiotherapists/Occupational Therapists: Qualified Chartered Physiotherapist or Qualified Occupational Therapist; HCPC registered; MCSP or College of OT’s membership.
  • Paramedics: BSc or Qualified Paramedic; HCPC registered.

Location, Hours & Schedule

Location: Redhill (you must be located within a 90-minute radius of the site to be considered).

Type: Permanent (Hybrid)

Full time: 40 hours per week, Mon – Fri, 8:30am – 5:00pm.
