We are seeking a proactive and experienced Mobile Vehicle Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be based in HP, OX, RG & GU and will be responsible for performing annual safety checks on our Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAVs), with a primary focus on inspecting belts, winches, and ensuring their safe functionality. Additionally, the role may involve conducting minor repairs and maintenance tasks as needed to address any identified issues.

Responsibilities:
  • Travel to various locations across the UK to conduct annual safety inspections on our WAVs, focusing on the examination of belts, winches, and ramps to ensure they are in good working order.
  • Perform comprehensive visual and functional inspections of belts, including seat belts and drive belts, checking for wear and damage.
  • Provide detailed inspection reports documenting findings, including recommendations for repairs or replacements to address any safety concerns.
  • Manage potentially difficult situations for our customers with professionalism.
  • Listen and act with compassion and empathy to our customer needs, building relationships while delivering first-class service.
  • Communicate inspection results and repair recommendations to vehicle owners or authorized representatives in a clear and professional manner, answering any questions and addressing concerns.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks as needed, including replacement of worn or damaged belts and installation of new belts.
  • Adhere to established safety protocols and guidelines while performing inspections and repairs, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including service technicians and customer service representatives, to coordinate inspection schedules, prioritize workload, and ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Identify when a WAV is due for renewal, discuss this with the vehicle owner or authorized representative, and communicate it to the internal sales team.
  • Stay informed about industry regulations, best practices, and technological advancements related to automotive safety inspections and belt maintenance, incorporating relevant knowledge into inspection procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in automotive maintenance, repair, or inspection role, with a focus on belts and safety systems.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive belts, including different types, functions, and maintenance requirements.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to assess belt condition and performance.
  • Excellent attention to detail and observational skills, with the ability to identify potential safety hazards or mechanical issues.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and willingness to travel.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Flexibility to work variable hours and adapt to changing schedules or travel requirements as needed.
  • Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing various ad hoc duties as assigned by management.
