Are you a medical laboratory professional looking for a great CPD opportunity to expand your understanding of ISO 15189:2022? UKAS is actively seeking technical assessors from all pathology disciplines, especially haematology/blood transfusion, immunology, genomics, cellular pathology, and neuropathology, to participate in ISO 15189:2022 assessments of medical laboratories across the UK.

We are recruiting assessors from all pathology roles; medical consultants, Clinical Scientists, Biomedical Scientists, or other relevant roles. Technical Assessors are part of a team of individuals which assesses a laboratory or POCT service to confirm conformity and compliance to ISO 15189:2022. Technical assessors are required to witness tests in the laboratory and review examination records and reports, commenting on competency and compliance to the lab's own procedures. In addition, technical assessors will review laboratory documentation and records to confirm effective implementation of the system (including competency records, EQA/IQC processes and validation/verification records).

Key competencies:

  • Significant experience in a practical clinical laboratory and/or delivery of a clinical reporting service
  • Registration with a relevant professional body – desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communicating effectively with laboratory staff, management, and their customers at all levels.

Additionally, applicants would benefit from:

  • A working knowledge of the international standard ISO 15189 (2012 or 2022 version), although full training will be provided
  • Some experience of internal or external auditing.

It is important that our assessors are acceptable to a wide range of accredited bodies, and therefore it is important that they can demonstrate a good degree of impartiality.

If you are interested and would like to discuss the details of the above opportunities please contact Talent Acquisition Manager, Andy Green on 07827 096408 or email technicalresources@ukas.com.
