SALARY: Actual Salary range for 0.8 term time only role = £17,892 – £20,448, FTE Salary range = £22,365-£25,560

JOB TYPE: Permanent

HOURS: 0.8 fraction = 7.4hrs a day / 5 days a week / 36 working weeks a year

LOCATION: Working across all group sites in Stevenage, Letchworth and Watford

JOB PURPOSE:

Our SEND Personal and Academic Development Coach role will be part of a unique team across the college who will work within Supported Studies and Springboard whilst collaborating across the college to ensure our students access the best support and a high-quality personal development curriculum.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

  • A teaching qualification (CertEd, PGCE, DET, AET), or a willingness to complete relevant teacher training
  • Minimum of grade 4 (previously GCSE grade C) in maths and English
  • An understanding of the pastoral needs of the 16-19 age group
  • Confidence and personal presence in order to lead sessions with students
  • An ability to engage and motivate students
  • Strong collaborator who easily builds relationships with colleagues
  • Good communication and presentation skills, written and verbal
  • Good levels of digital literacy
  • Training or experience in the following areas:
  • Mental health
  • Academic support
  • Safeguarding
  • Experience of working with young people in a college, school or university setting
  • Teaching experience
  • Educated to a minimum of level 4 (foundation degree)
  • ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    This is an exciting and varied role that will have responsibility for a range of areas. You will be connected to Supported Studies and Springboard, whilst also being part of the wider personal and academic development team across the college.

    Academic skills:

    • Provide 1-2-1 and small group academic tutoring to students. This might include providing targeted support to students who need intervention to support them achieving.

    Keeping our students safe, healthy and well:

    • You will deliver core tutorial content related to keeping safe, healthy and well including Prevent, safeguarding and healthy relationships. You will work with your colleagues in the team to develop impactful sessions and work with students throughout the year to provide refreshers. To support you with this, you will receive in-depth training on these key topics, with a particular focus on mental health and safeguarding lead information.

    Accessing resources:

    • To support the academic and personal development of our students, they will access some tailored online learning throughout their course. You will work with the curriculum teams to identify the appropriate online learning for them and support students to complete this.
