We are pleased to offer a full time, Band 2 Ward Clerk post to work on the Acute Medical Unit at The Royal Oldham Hospital. You will provide a wide range of administrative and clerical duties to the ward/unit staff and be responsible for the safe keeping and availability of all clinical records relating to patients and the smooth running of the ward/department. You will also provide general assistance to the ward/unit staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide general non-clinical advice, information, and guidance of ancillary services directly to patients, clients, relatives, and carers.
  • Accurately file reports, notes, and results efficiently.
  • Participate in any new directions which ensure smooth running of the service.
  • Show initiative and carry out duties safely and competently and where necessary, train new staff.
  • Respond to telephone enquiries from hospital staff and patients efficiently and conscientiously.
  • Attend and participate in regular staff meetings.
  • Provide cover for sickness absence and annual leave within the department.
  • Perform general clerical duties, as required, within the department.
  • Ensure patient case notes are available, maintained, and up to date.
  • Data input on the Patient Administration System (PAS), in line with the Trust Waiting List and outpatient’s procedures and policies.
