The Opportunity: We are looking for a skilled and proactive Mechanical Technician to join our client\’s multi-disciplinary team. In this hands-on role, you\’ll be essential to diagnosing and resolving mechanical breakdowns, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring operational efficiency across the site. You will work 12-hour day shifts, supporting the shift management teams in production and engineering to meet key safety, quality, and production objectives. Key Responsibilities: Report directly to the Engineering Team Leader on all matters related to plant and equipment. Conduct both planned and reactive maintenance on a variety of machinery and plant systems. Prioritize and manage tasks efficiently, independently, or under the direction of the Team Leader, Section Engineer, or Shift Manager. Collaborate in developing maintenance practices and procedures to improve plant operations. Utilize CMMS to log work completed, track parts usage, and keep the team informed of any issues. Ensure all systems comply with legal requirements, maintaining accurate records. Assist in training and developing team members while deputizing for the Team Leader as required. Participate in plant improvement projects and assist with risk assessments and work permits. Reduce waste and inefficiencies within department operations, while providing general assistance where needed. What We’re Looking For: A recognized mechanical engineering apprenticeship (HNC preferred, minimum ONC or equivalent). Expertise in industrial systems, including hydraulics, pumps, drives, gearboxes, heavy machinery, water cooling, conveyor systems, and dust extraction. Strong problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to fault-finding and root cause analysis. Experience with or knowledge of permit systems and compliance protocols. Self-motivated, capable of leading a small team, and able to work effectively with cross-functional groups. Customer-focused mindset with strong prioritization and resource management abilities.
